Racing WA stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that cobalt at a concentration in excess of 100 ng/mL, being the threshold prescribed in the Greyhound Rules of Racing, has been detected in a sample taken from Renegade Bull at Northam on 14 November 2024 following the greyhound winning Race 1.
The finding has been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory in Victoria.
Stewards will inquire into these reports on a date to be determined, once the result of analysis of a sample taken on 5 December 2024 at Northam from Renegade Bull is available, which the trainer, Trudi Mitchem, will be required to attend.
Acting under the provisions of Greyhound Rule of Racing 169 (5), stewards have directed that Mrs Mitchem’s licence be suspended forthwith pending the outcome of the stewards’ inquiry, and that no greyhound owned or trained by her will be permitted to compete in, or be nominated for, any event.
Further, Renegade Bull, shall also not be permitted to compete in, or be nominated for, any event until the inquiry is concluded.
