Overview

Carnarvon Race Club is a historic and vibrant part of the racing community in Western Australia. Established in 1883, it is one of the oldest race clubs in the state. The club is located in Massey Bay, just 2kms from the Carnarvon town center, and offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding Browns Range.

The racing season in Carnarvon runs from May to September, culminating in the Carnarvon Cup. This event attracts participants from across the North-West, the Kimberley, and the Mid-West regions, thanks to its lucrative prize money and the club's welcoming atmosphere. The Carnarvon Racecourse features a well-maintained track that provides a great racing experience for both horses and jockeys. The circumference of the track is one of the largest in Western Australia and if you look carefully, looks very similar to the famous Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.

Carnarvon itself is a charming coastal town in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. Known for its warm climate and beautiful landscapes, Carnarvon is a hub for agriculture and fishing. The town offers a range of activities for visitors, including exploring the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, visiting the HMAS Sydney II Memorial, and enjoying the local produce at the Gascoyne Growers' Market.

The Carnarvon Race Club plays a significant role in the local community, not only by hosting exciting racing events but also by contributing to the social and economic fabric of the region. The club's commitment to celebrating its rich history and the land it occupies is evident through its "Racing on Country" meetings, which honor the Indigenous heritage of the area.
