Overview

Located about 720 km southeast of Perth, Esperance Racecourse is managed by the Esperance Bay Turf Club. The racecourse features a 1900m grass track, renowned as one of the best in country Western Australia, with a long home straight of 406m that provides an exciting finish for the races.

The racing season at Esperance Racecourse runs from November to March, culminating in the Esperance Cup in early March. The club hosts around 10 race meetings annually during this period, making it a vibrant part of the local community’s social calendar. The club proudly uses the tagline ‘where the surf meets the turf,’ highlighting the racecourse’s proximity to the beautiful beaches for which the town is well known for.

Racing in Esperance has a rich history spanning over 100 years, with previous locations including Pink Lake, Bow’s Farm, and the “old” racecourse on Lake Road. The Esperance Bay Turf Club moved the races to their current location in 1984, where the track boasts a 1900m grass course and stabling facilities for visiting trainers.
