Step inside the world of thoroughbred racing with a rare behind-the-scenes experience at Ascot, hosted by Racing WA as part of National Thoroughbred Week.

Join us on Sunday, 23 November for a free Open Morning Stable Tour with trainers Aaron Mitchell and Julie Clements, where you’ll meet the horses, explore the stables, and discover what it takes to prepare a racehorse for the track. Enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins as you watch morning routines unfold, including horse pool sessions and trackwork.

You’ll also have the chance to meet Group 1-winning jockey Shaun O’Donnell, and chat with the dedicated team behind the scenes, from grooms to farriers, who care for these elite equine athletes.

About the Host: Aaron Mitchell is a former Group-winning jockey turned trainer, now based at Ascot. With international experience across Ireland, England, France, Dubai and New Zealand, and a resume that includes wins in the Karrakatta Plate and Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Aaron brings a wealth of horsemanship and global racing insight. He was also instrumental in preparing Munhamek for Damien Oliver’s memorable farewell win in the 2023 Gold Rush.
