Throughout the month of July, WA harness tracks will turn into a sea of pink as supporters raise vital funds and awareness in support of the McGrath Foundation through the Pacing for Pink initiative.
Gloucester Park Harness Racing Club is the driving force behind this fundraising initiative and have invited organisations to support breast cancer awareness by purchasing a $400 sponsorship package, which covers the cost of a pair of pink drivers’ pants to be worn by the driver of their choice. All additional funds go direct to the McGrath foundation.
For every drive they secure throughout the month, drivers will wear their sponsored pink pants in support of the initiative, with currently 32 drivers proudly taking part.
The McGrath Foundation provides invaluable support and care for individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer and has supported over 95,000 families since its inception in 2005.
With a growing list of sponsors getting behind this fantastic cause, Ian Edwards, Chief Executive Officer at Racing and Wagering Western Australia, is pleased to get behind the Pacing for Pink initiative and create awareness in the community,
“This initiative is an outstanding example of the Western Australian harness racing industry coming together to support a fantastic cause,” Ian said.
“We are proud to be supporting the initiative, which will help boost breast cancer awareness in the community and support the fantastic work of the McGrath Foundation.”
As an additional fundraising opportunity, Gloucester Park will also host a Pacing for Pink race night on Friday, 30 July, with all proceeds raised from race names, raffles and auctions going to the foundation.
RWWA’s Community TAB and The Trots WA are proud to be donating $2,000 to kick off the Pacing for Pink initiative.
The campaign runs for the month of July and all funds raised will go directly to the McGrath Foundation.
The drivers taking part in the initiative include Aiden De Campo, Aldo Cortopassi, Bailey McDonough, Chris Lewis, Chris Voak, Cody Wallrodt, Colin Brown, Corey Peterson, Daniel Suvaljko, Deni Roberts, Donald Harper, Dylan Egerton-Green, Emily Suvaljko, Gary Hall Jnr, Hayden Hancock, Isaac Edwards, Joeclyn Young, Kyle Harper, Luke Edwards, Maddison brown, Maddy Young, Mark Johnson, Mark Reed, Michael Ferguson, Michael Grantham, Nathan Turvey, Robbie Williams, Ryan Bell, Ryan Eyre, Ryan Warwick, Shannan Suvaljko and Trent Wheeler.
