Exciting pacer My Watchlist has taken another step towards a keenly anticipated comeback with an impressive trial performance at Pinjarra yesterday.
The Gary Hall Snr-trained pacer won his 2185m trial by almost 15m to consistent pacer All Is Well and a further 10m to Classnsmart.
The five-year-old started most recently in the Pinjarra 4YO Classic (2185m) last November, where he was unplaced behind Youre So Fine.
My Watchlist won his first two starts under the care of Hall Snr in the fortnight leading up to the unplaced Pinjarra run.
The son of Hes Watching won two of his five starts in New Zealand prior to joining the Hall Snr stable in 2022.
Hall Snr said he got what he wanted out of the trial and hoped to see the best of My Watchlist this campaign.
“I’m very happy with him and he went well yesterday,” Hall Snr told Racing WA Harness.
“He’s a really good horse, but his feet fell apart when he got here.
“I’ve almost got him right again.
“I think he could be better than horses like Wildwest and Diego when he’s right.
“He’s handled anything that’s worked with him.”
My Watchlist has been nominated to make his return at Gloucester Park on Tuesday night, where he could take on stablemate Pasquale and the Greg and Skye Bond-trained Golden Lode and Prince Of Pain.
Hall Snr indicated he would like to get “seven or eight” runs in My Watchlist this campaign and hoped he could measure up to Free-For-All company next year.
Meanwhile, Hall Snr’s stable stars are beginning to ramp up their preparations for upcoming feature races.
Jumpingjackmac and Diego are likely to be back in the early stages of October ahead of a tilt at November’s WA Pacing Cup.
Hall Snr’s strong four-year-old team, headed by WA Derby winner Skylou and Mister Smartee, are also set to be back at a similar time.
The leading trainer also indicated recent stable acquisition Cyclone Jordy could race first-up in next month’s Golden Slipper.
