Nomination Numbers Grow For Pinnacles

The nominations for this year’s TABtouch-Pinnacles Series were released yesterday, with encouraging numbers and east coast representation.

Runners from Chris Waller, Bjorn Baker, Ciaron Maher, James Cummings, Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, Ben, Will and JD Hayes and Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott were all represented in nominations across the five races.

The Group 1 Swan Draught-Railway Stakes (1600m) received the biggest spike in nominations with 108, up from 70 last year.

Last year’s winner Bustler headlines nominations for the mile feature, while Group 1 winners Rediener, Tom Kitten and Southport Tycoon were also included.

That quartet also feature in the 142 nominations for the TABtouch-Northerly Stakes (1800m), an increase from 106 last year and 87 in 2022.

The Gold Rush (1400m), now in its third year as the final day feature of the Pinnacles, received 118 nominations, up from 112 and 104 in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

The Group 1 MCA Polytrack-Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) has attracted 78 nominations and is headlined by last year’s winner Overpass and multiple Group 1 winner Bella Nipotina.

The Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) kickstarts the Pinnacles and has also received a boost from 52 to 71 nominations.

There Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) received 86 nominations, including Saturday’s Max Simmonds Stakes (1000m) winner Charino.
