Team Teal is back for 2025, and the ladies of pacing will don the teal driving pants nationwide from February 1 to March 15.
WA will see reinswomen Maddison Brown, Jocelyn Young, Deni Roberts, Emily Suvaljko, Maddy Young, Sara Grout, Lauren Harper, Kylah Madden, Briana Edman and Abbey Vidovich do their part to raise awareness and funds for gynaecological cancers in Australia.
Kim Prentice trained runners will wear Team Teal silks for the six-week campaign, with his partner Sarah Dacey currently fighting her own battle with cancer, as well as Jemma Haymans stable.
WA’s Ambassadors for 2025, Maddison Brown and Jocelyn Young are geared up for this year’s fundraiser and are looking forward to the next six weeks of Team Teal.
“Spreading awareness, supporting research and giving hope to those battling the illness through Team Teal is such a privilege. Every contribution, no matter how big or small can make a difference.” Maddison Brown said.
“It’s important to me to be able to be selected as an ambassador towards such an important cause, and hopefully people continue to ask questions and spread awareness about Team Teal and what it is.” Jocelyn Young said.
The Team Teal campaign was launched after creator Duncan McPherson OAM lost his wife Lyn to ovarian cancer in 2010.
Throughout her cancer battle, Lyn dedicated her time fundraising for ovarian cancer research, and after her death Duncan continued her work, combining it with his passion of harness racing, he co-founded Team Teal soon after.
Since it’s inception, Team Teal has raised an incredible $3,109,351 through the WomenCan foundation, with their race to raising $5million well underway.
Team Teal in WA gets underway at Bunbury on Saturday, February 1, but it isn’t just the full-grown female drivers that will be raising awareness, but the young female drivers of South West Pony Trots also doing their part.
Gate proceeds on the night will go towards the WomenCan Team Teal campaign and Racing WA have setup an online fundraiser:
