WIN OF THE DAY
While the majority of pre-race Cyril Flower Stakes talk centered on market leaders Twain’s Angel and Man Crush, Snowdome was almost the forgotten horse, but his class shone through when he bolted clear to win by an easy three lengths, giving everyone a stark reminder of what he’s capable of when at his top.
TRAINER
There was no denying Snowdome’s class, we just we hadn’t seen it for about 15-months, but master horseman, Neville Parnham found it, and it formed the second-leg of a big day out after Zouboltz won race two and iron-horse Bruce Almighty the final race.
Exciting times ahead for Tiarnna Roberston, she’s unearthed a good one after progressive three-year-old All Grunt looped the field from second-last.
The petrol gauge was almost reading empty at the end of his 2200m encounter, but Crezee, well placed back in grade by trainer, Greg Kersley, found a way across the line to return to the winner’s list for the first time in 821 days.
Ice Pick Nick has been a great recent addition to Stefan Vahala’s team and gave favourite punters respite after tough going earlier in the day. Super strong effort to chase down Sonoftheboss with 60kg under hard riding from Steven Parnham.
JOCKEY
A triple-treat for Brad Parnham. He helped Monte Tremezzo make the best possible start to her racing journey, driving up on the inside to defeat warm favourite, Storm Away on debut. He later combined with Red Tori, who let down powerfully after sitting three wide with cover until the turn before leading Snowdome to an easy victory in the main race on the card.
When you get the tick of approval from Neville Parnham, you know you are going well. The Hall Of Fame trainer was full of praise for young gun Luke Campbell who gave a classy exhibition on Zouboltz, patiently holding him up and pushing through when the gap arrived.
Holly Watson extracted everything out of Crezee in the first and then opted to take a sit on one of her favourite horses, tough filly This’ll Show Ya, when taken on for the lead by Salt Lake Shake.
Steven Parnham would be doing his best to change Russell Stewart’s mind about sending Rock ‘N’ Jam to the paddock. The Awesome Rock gelding is a talent with enormous upside. A winner in two of three starts, he gave Parnham a double after combining with Ice Pick Nick.
HORSES TO FOLLOW
That was a far better effort second-up by Soso Lucky. Disappointing on her return but she rebounded strongly. Beaten a whisker by Zouboltz who had the perfect run.
Storm Away: The talent’s there, race education not yet. He did a lot wrong but has a future, as too the winner, Monte Tremezzo, the money was spot on.
Taken inwards from the back of the field by Brayden Gaerth, Noahquintilly made a stack of ground along the fence.
WHAT HAPPENED
Memory Parade was flat after a top last start win. Third to the turn, last past the post.
Reconnaissance toughed it out after wide run.
