New three-year deal supports National Jockeys Trust

1 July 2025

Racing WA is proud to announce a new three-year partnership with the National Jockeys Trust (NJT), reaffirming its commitment to the wellbeing of jockeys across Australia.

From 1 July 2025, the Racing WA logo will feature prominently on jockey breeches worn in all race meetings across the State, reflecting ongoing support for this important sector of the thoroughbred racing industry.

As part of the partnership, Racing WA will make an annual donation to the NJT.

Racing WA Chief Racing Officer David Hunter said the partnership with the NJT and WA Jockeys’ Association (WAJA) reiterated the vital support services available to riders.

“The NJT provides essential support to jockeys and their families when injury or illness leads to financial hardship,” David said.

“This partnership is one of the ways we can show our appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of WA jockeys and help ensure they’re supported both on and off the track.”

Established in 2004, the National Jockeys Trust has assisted hundreds of riders and their families, offering financial assistance, emotional support and a safety net when needed.

“The partnership with Racing WA not only helps raise awareness of our cause but also provides direct funding to ensure we can continue to support jockeys doing it tough,” NJT Chief Executive Kerrie Wilkinson said.

“Having Racing WA’s logo displayed on riding gear is a great way to show the industry’s backing for our work.”

As part of the partnership, the WAJA will receive a new supply of breeches for local jockeys.

WAJA President Craig Staples said it recognised the importance of supporting jockey welfare both during and beyond their careers.

“The NJT is an organisation close to the heart of all WA jockeys, and I know they’ll be thrilled with this news,” Craig said.

“I’m delighted that Racing WA has strengthened its support of our riding ranks through this partnership.”
