The 2025 TAMS Port Hedland Cup delivered a moment that trainer Timothy Pike will never forget, celebrating his first ever Cup runner, and turning it into a career-defining win with the talented Reginald.
“It wasn’t just my win. It felt like a win for everyone who’s believed in me along the way.”
Timothy marked the occasion with close friends and family, including fellow trainers Brett Pope and Dean Cocivera, who’ve supported him throughout his journey. The celebration was filled with drinks, laughter, and a deep sense of pride.
“We just took a moment to soak it all in. It was a really special feeling to be surrounded by people who’ve been part of the journey.”
Having been part of the Port Hedland racing scene for around seven years, first alongside his dad, and now as a trainer in his own right — this win carried extra meaning.
“To have my first ever Cup runner and to actually win it... that was a real pinch-myself moment.”
And it wasn’t just the Cup. Timothy trained three winners on Cup Day, a feat he calls the pinnacle of his career so far.
“Days like that remind you why you do it, early mornings, tough days, all of it. It’s proof that the hard work is paying off.”
Gratitude was front and centre as Timothy reflected on the people who’ve stood by him through the highs and lows.
“Their support, encouragement, and belief in me has been the backbone of everything. I truly wouldn’t be here without them.”
Timothy thanked the Port Hedland Turf Club for hosting an unforgettable day and for always making the track feel like home.
“This win will stay with me for a long time.”
