WA-bred Bettors Delight four-year-old gave a sample of his class when he proved too speedy for his eight older rivals in the $27,000 Home And Away On Seven Pace over 2130m at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
The Greg and Skye Bond-trained gelding was the $2 favourite from the favourable No. 2 barrier, and Deni Roberts rated him perfectly with 400m sections of 31.6sec., 30.1sec., 28.7sec. and 28.2sec.
He rated 1.57.6 in winning by a length from $5.50 chance Ardens Horizon, who ran home solidly after enjoying an ideal passage in the one-out, one-back position. Magnus Victor ($12) impressed at his first outing after a spell in surging home from sixth at the bell to finish third.
Thenu Came Along, the fifth foal out of unraced Art Major mare Arconite, was purchased for $85,000 at the 2022 Perth APG yearling sale. He is proving a good investment, having earned $143,809 from nine wins and 15 placings from 39 starts.
