Racing WA stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth that trendione and altrenogest was detected in the urine sample taken from Magicash following it racing in, and winning, Race 4 at Bunbury on 12 June 2024.
These findings have been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory in Victoria.
Stewards will inquire into these reports on Thursday, 19 September 2024, which Mr Ikenushi has been directed to attend.
In view of the laboratory reports and the provisions of the rules of racing that relate to the detection of anabolic steroids, Magicash shall not be permitted to be nominated for or compete in any event pending the outcome of the inquiry.
All trainers are reminded of the industry notice available at notice-to-trainers---altrenogest-products.pdf (racingwa.com.au) which recommends that products containing altrenogest not be used during training or racing due to the potential for commercial products containing altrenogest used for oestrus suppression in fillies and mares to contain low level traces of trenbolone and/or trendione which may cause a positive swab.
Trenbolone and trendione are not exempted substances, regardless of their source. Altrenogest is only exempted when administered to a mare or filly.
