Thoroughbred stewards’ inquiry – Trainer Kelvin Moore (Vevinsky)

16 January 2025

Stewards adjourned the resumed inquiry conducted on 7 January into reports of lignocaine being detected in the sample taken from Vevinsky following it racing in and winning Race 7, the XXXX Broome Cup, on 24 August 2024, to consider an application on behalf of Mr Moore for the sample to undergo further analysis

Stewards have now determined, as a matter of fairness, to accept the application and have directed that the remaining sealed sample held by Chem Centre be transferred to Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) to conduct analysis on that sample, in addition to analysis of any portion of sample retained by RASL deemed suitable for testing, for the presence of the known metabolite/s of lignocaine, including but not strictly limited to, (as relevant) Norlignocaine (MEGX).

RASL has advised that analysis may take three to four weeks to complete.

The resumption of the inquiry is now scheduled for 20 March 2025 to enable time for the results of the analysis to become available and considered and to accommodate availabilities of all parties.
