Racing WA

What is a memorable moment or experience that confirmed your passion for horse racing?

Winx’s Cox Plate win in 2017 was something else. The atmosphere at The Valley that day was electric, and even now I’m in awe of how an event that lasts just over two minutes can capture the attention of so many people around the world.

What is your favourite track to cover, and why?

Ascot on our biggest days such as the Railway Stakes, Perth Cup and Quokka Day. It’s such a traditional racecourse that can feel really big at times, but when the crowd gathers in front of the grandstand, nothing beats it. The atmosphere is special and I absolutely love it.

What’s one of the most memorable interviews you’ve conducted with a jockey, trainer, or industry figure?
Interviewing Neville Parnham after he and his son Steve won the WA Guineas and Railway Stakes back-to-back will always be special. Neville is such a respected figure in our industry, and seeing how much the Railway win meant to him was a moment I’ll never forget. Honourable mentions go to Sean and Jake Casey’s Northerly Stakes win with Dom To Shoot, and Bernie Miller’s Quokka win with Joker’s Grin.
